DOCTAH X (USA) ROOTS OF DUB FUNK
4 - Track 6 - "BLACK EYE CHILDREN DUB" THE MUSIC My dub influences are Bill Laswell, Dr. Israel, Professor Shehab, King Tubby, Mad Scientist, Tappa Zukie, Sly & Robbie, Theivery Corporation, Systemwide, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Cottonbelly, and Lee Scratch Perry. The track "Black Eyed Children Dub" originated with me mucking about in the lab one evening, as usual, and really feeling the guitar. One thing led to another and the track was born with no intention of a vocal. A week later my friend Kai Pai came through the studio and blessed me with vocals and percussion. The resulting track is a mutation of those sessions. BACKGROUND The beginning was, as a youth, listening and visiting my blind aunt and uncle. They were both gospel musicians, she did vocals and he played guitar. I moved to Boston years later and became friends with James Montgomery (Johnny Winter Band) who helped turn me onto the blues. From there I mutated through blues, rock, R & B, and then to reggae. I've spent the bulk of my career, 1973 to 1997, playing reggae extensively in the US and in Europe. Performing with John Lee Hooker, Lele Gaudi, Ginger Baker, WDX, DEA and more recently with Dr. Israel, Umar bin Hassan, and Trumystic. In 1997 I stopped touring as a guitarist/vocalist and started to study producing and to assemble what is today the House O' Dub studio. Since, then I've done the following: STUDIO Doctah X (House of Dub Studio) gear list: Alesis hd24 24 track
