THE MUSIC
The creation of Faya
Dub in September 1998 was the result of a meeting between Reggae and
Jazz musicians in the month of May of that same year.
It all started with a first meeting that fused with positive energy
and great sounds flying out of our instruments. The fusion of all this
great vibes was, in no doubt for us, a beginning of something great
: "Developing a universal side of the "black roots music"
through Reggae Dub and Jazz. A year later, the fruit of all our jammin'
gave birth to a double album called "Irie Feeling".
Faya dub's reggae
reaches the five continents.
The spirit and universal
way of going of Faya Dub's music has brought the band to perform live
in the refugees' camp of Doboj istock and at the Tuzla Wave Festival,
Bosnia or in the ghettos of Cayenne, Gayana.
"Our journeys and concerts in different places of the planet are
often enriched by the diverse encounters we make with international
musicians coming from India, Africa, Eastern Europe, Brazil, Caribbean,
Western Europe or U.S.A.
The second album "Sings and Plays" is a perfect example of
a harmonious fusion of great vibes between artists sharing the same
passion in music and art."
The grandfather, Jalal M. Nuriddin, from the legendary and revolutionary
band "The Last poets" contributed vocally and shared his powerful
poetry with Faya Dub, and thus, bringing another edge to our sound.
Jamaican singer and toaster, Stix Dan, is also another master vocal
contributor and writer to the musical wealth of the band. His jam with
spiritual words of wisdom is a message that can only come from the heart
and soul of a wise Rastafari.
