ROOTS OF DUB FUNK 4 - Track 6 - "NEST OF VIPERS"

THE MUSIC

Kelvin. R comes back on "ROOTS OF DUB FUNK 4" with his own composition under the 'Dub Funk Association' moniker. Combining Stripped down 'one drop' dub with tempo effected Hip-Hop loops touched with the merest hint of Garage snares and Drum and bass come rockers type tempo.

"Nest of Vipers" utilises Tony Corbin's excellent vocals on the previous DFA release "Are You Satisfied?" taken from the "Sprits Under Pressure" album. In keeping with previous recent soul searching DFA releases and definitely touching on areas of social commentary, in this case dubbing out the exploits of a small time crack cocaine dealer. Topics like these and others will be explored in more depth ina dubwise fashion on the next full Dub Funk Association album coming out on Tanty Records. 'We are living in troubled times and these dubs attempts to reflect just that'.

Every year the sounds and styles that the DFA have been producing and releasing on record since 1992 are being increasingly heard on many of today's dub and dance based tracks that are being created, released and sold all over the world. It is a good feeling to know that the DFA and Tanty Records are not alone in trying to push forward the boundaries of dub and heavy downtempo music.
