THE MUSIC

Manjul often say that music and life are fully linked. In a real and serious mission, roots reggae is a spiritual and physical remedy, a way to pray Good and fight Evil.
"Reggae music, as anything we can do each day and every where, is a testimony of life".

BACKGROUND

Born in1976 in Paris (18th district, a popular and poor district)
Manjul starts to play music at 7 with a violin.
Rastafarian since 14 years old, he early feels the spiritual, social, and cultural reggae expression as his mission too.
He learns to chant and play Nyabinghy drums, bass guitar, and tries to perfect his knowledge and practice of several instruments, inspirated by the dub masters tradition and overall Jah Rastafari.

Gone to the Indian Ocean and always motivated by the need to create and therefore to compose, he starts the Humble band in 1996 in Mayotte (Comoros Islands).
Along with his musical apprenticeship, he made a practice of recording and engineering sounds, to mix and create little by little the modest studio called Humble Ark (humble studio tribute to the great Ivine Ark of the covenant, and also inspirated by Lee Scratch Perry and the Black Ark times.

In 1999, Manjul sets up Ifficially his laboratory. Many artists then work with him to record, mix, compose and/or play certain instrumental parts.
In September of 2001, Manjul come back to Europe to promote a dub album called "Indian Ocean in Dub fight 1 and 2" presenting a lots of singers and bands from there.
At this time he begins to work with a lot of artists from Europe, Africa, Caribbean islands and Jamaica (Anthony Johnson, David Jahson, MikeE.Brooks, Jah woosh,U Brown, Cedric Myton, Sugar Minott…) thru different labels.
The Humble Ark studio was located in the Reunion Island, specialized in roots and culture reggae music. It his know transferred in Mali (West Africa).
He is working there with ghetto youths singers and the Rastafarian community.
He is playing on stage too, with Tiken Jah Fakoly (percussions, roots vibes) and Sugar Minott (bass guitar).
Out of 20 album realised, he played Bass, 5 drum part and all keyboards on the last Sugar minott album " Leave out Babylon " (discographe distr.), and mixed it too.
