Munky Lee Roots of Dub Funk 2 - 'Try Harder Dub' MUNKY LEE: Mathieu Guyot from FRANCE "Munky lee (aka mat) is a french dub producer. he make everything in his home-studio that grows up slowly. mat came to dub while hearing french bands like Zenzile, Improvisators dub, High Tone etc... then came to listen roots and origins of reggae after listening king tubby's' dubs. and then discover actuals UK dub style. a big moment was when he saw the Aba Shanti sound system in paris, it was absolutely incredible. The Music Mat use electronic stuff to make tunes and analog equipment to dub mix. the result is an electro dub with an original dub mix style feeling. He tries to not go to a "dark dub style" that is easy to fall in with electronic instruments.the tracks are made in order to be played and mixed live, each time different, with or without singer,..... but later! the goal is to make the studio "tranformable" in a sound-system able to go out and play live. after 2 demo CD's, munky lee autoproduced a 4-track vinyl (only 100 copies) with a friend, Romone, in the summer 2001. then appears on 2 french dub compilations and now on "Roots of Dub Funk 2". and future a 7" or 10" autoproduction projects with guests" Speak to Munky Lee
