NUCLEUS ROOTS (United Kingdom) ROOTS OF DUB FUNK
6: Track 1 - "ONE FE DE SOUNDMAN" nucleus roots nucleus roots studio was established in 1996 from the ashes of manchesters punky/reggae group community charge. nucleus roots studio even though small, the sound attracted vocal artist from the jamaican community in manchester, artist like don heartley, sammy clark, country culture to name a few. the albums that were produced from the studio are likened to the frontline albums, released by virgin ( which were a big influence for me as a youth) as this was the first time i'd heared jamaican reggae that wasn't bob marley ( no dis intended). other influences included u.k groups like steel pulse, aswad, black slate, black roots, jah shaka etc. production influences came from the usual crew, like, king tubbys, lee perry, studio one, scientist etc. as an inspiring producer in the earlys, i was fascinated by the sound these producers got from the obvious lack of resources, but what a sound they got, though!!!. this ideology still stays with me to this day , keep it simple, never dwell on tunes, wright them and mix em. they say the first cuts are always the deepest. in fact all the albums released from the nucleus bar the last two were recorded on a tascam 388 1/4 inch 8 track, great sound. unfortunetley the tape for this machine became hard to obtain, so the computer beckoned............. hope the equipment
list below will give you an idea of how the nucleus roots sound is created. STUDIO behringer euro 8000
