'Hard Dub fe Dead!'

With 'Black City Dread' the 'DFA' make a no-nonsense, stripped down dub/roots style album but with that undeniable 'future favor', that 'something', which has always been the trademark of the Dub Funk Association.
Notting Hill Carnival, (76/77?). North West London sound system Java Hi Fi was 'tearing it up' opposite the flyover in Ladbroke Grove, there were hundreds of copies of a reggae album in a simple black and white sleeve just littered across the ground everywhere! The album was 'Contempo Jade' by Black Jade. That definitely was the inspiration for this, the 'Black City Dread' album. The quality of that recording was, so 'coarse', the production so 'sparse' and a bass so 'sub', you would need a JCB digger to bring it up! Yet it captured a spirit, a splintered raggedness, a 'something', which has yet still to be fully explored in many of today's Dub / Reggae / Downtempo recordings.
A genuine limited edition 1000 copy vinyl only release, "Black City Dread" presents new exclusive tracks which will only be available on this vinyl LP, "Africa Sent Us", "Far I Dub", "The Chuzzler Well Set" and a new version of the stand out track from the "Roots of Dub Funk" CD, a haunting Hammond organ cut of "Hustlers Choice" ("Hustlers Version"). Also featuring some of the popular cuts from the full CD only albums "Sounds of the Heavyweight" and "Roots of Dub Funk".
