The Dub Adventure!

"Roots of Dub Funk 3" is a darker broodier and heavier affair than both volumes 1 and 2 put together, not deliberately so but with the Nyabinghi laced thumper from DUB 2 DUB's 'Zulu Dub' to conscious lyrics from RUDY LEE on DJ PERCH's 'Edutainment Dub', "Give the people what they need, Edutainment, so there minds can be free " and the DUB FUNK ASSOCIATION's menacing chant of "Babylon kingdom must have fe fall", you know this is no bubblegum affair!

Along side the big UK dub guns of JAH WARRIOR, ALPHA AND OMEGA, VIBRONICS and TEACHA there is a strong representation from notable USA dubs heads VERSION CITY ROCKERS (with King Django) BURNING BABYLON and singer/songwriter come new dub meister RAS SHAGGAI.

One of the things that struck me when compiling this release was the variety of Dub styles and techniques being employed in today's music, not the fancy 'lets see what the software can do' type of cleverness which has plagued other forms of modern dance music for many years but the hands on tweaking of echoe returns and 'drop in' and 'cut outs' found in many a Perry/Tubby/Errol T dub in the 70's and 80's.

Believe me no thin two-note bassline business here!

Strictly melody lines and harmonies combined with warm horns sounds, vocal echoes, heavyweight kick drums and dirty basslines by the truckload!
